THE MAP ABOVE is not the greatest but it will give you a rough idea of where Dublinbikes is planning to locate its 58 new bike stations as part of its expansions plans due to be rolled out later this year.

Dublin City Council announced last week that the hugely successful bike scheme will be expanded with 950 extra bikes and 2,000 bike stands set to be rolled out to the east and west of the city.

It is hoped that works will commence this October and be completed during July 2014. There are 33,000 long term Dublinbikes subscribers with the bikes being used on a daily basis anywhere up to 7,000 time.

Thanks to the former Lord Mayor of Dublin and Labour councillor Andrew Montague who first proposed the Dublinbikes scheme.
