The New York Times wants people to come to Dublin to mark 1916

“A city spruces up to celebrate a centenary.”

THE NEW YORK Times has named Dublin as one of the best places to visit in 2016.

The Irish capital made the list due to the series of events planned to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising.

The newspaper recommends tourists visit Richmond Barracks, Kilmainham Gaol – “the dramatic-looking prison where most of the leaders were executed”, the National Concert Hall, and the National Gallery of Ireland, which is “expected to reveal the most extensive refurbishment in its 150-plus-year history”.
