Investigation launched after newborn baby girl found dead in car

The infant was found in a car in east Belfast on Tuesday evening.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have launched an inquiry after the body of a newborn baby girl was found in a car on Tuesday evening.

The PSNI has issued a statement to say detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. The infant was found in a car in a street off the Upper Newtownards Road.

Officers are assessing the results of a post mortem examinations and making enquiries with the family of the deceased.

The PSNI advised no further information will be made available at this time.
