Newland's Cross submerged in water due to burst water mains causes traffic chaos

Access to Newlands Cross from the Belgard Road and the Fonthill Road is back and the traffic lights are working.

Update 14.20pm

ACCESS TO NEWLANDS CROSS from the Belgard Road and the Fonthill Road is back and the traffic lights are working following a burst water mains submerged the road in water causing severe traffic congestion in the area

The gardaí have asked drivers to exercise care while driving.

“Due to flooding caused by a burst water main at the Newlands Cross junction on the N7 traffic is asked to avoid if possible and take alternative routes,” said the gardaí.

This afternoon, traffic inbound on N7 is still being diverted at J2 (Ring Road) and is expected to remain so for most of today to facilitate repairs to the road.
