Steak, spuds and selfies: A hero's welcome for O'Donovan brothers in Cork

OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALISTS Pual and Gary O’Dovovan received a heroes welcome in Cork Airport last night and an even bigger homecoming is planned for their native Skibbereen later.

The pair arrived back to Ireland from the Netherlands last night fresh from another triumph after Paul picked up a World Rowing Championship gold medal in Rotterdam on Saturday.

Hundreds of people greeted their arrival last night as the two carried the Irish flag, their medals and posed for selfies.

The brothers were also presented with steak and spuds upon entering the arrivals hall, a nod one of their famous interviews that saw their popularity skyrocket during the games.

An open top bus is expected to take the pair along with their coach Dominic Casey into Skibbereen this evening.
