A FEMALE-LED SPIN-OFF of Ocean’s Eleven is set to begin filming in October.

Deadline reports that Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett are already on board to star in Ocean’s 8, which will be directed by Gary Ross.

The website says deals are close with a number of other stars including Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling.

The casino heist trilogy, featuring Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, was released from 2001 to 2007.

It starred several Hollywood heavyweights – including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts – and grossed $1.12 billion (about €1 billion) worldwide.

The new film will be produced by Ocean’s Eleven director Steven Soderbergh. Ross wrote the script with Olivia Milch.

The plot has yet to be revealed, but the Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit has said it will revolve around a heist at the Met Gala in New York.
