Off-duty garda missing after falling into River Liffey near Blessington

A search is underway after the man, understood to be a member of the gardaí, fell into the River Liffey near Blessington.

A MAN – understood to be an off-duty garda - is missing after he fell into the River Liffey in Co Wicklow earlier this evening.

Gardaí say that a man went missing in the River Liffey around Ballysmuttan Bridge near Blessington in Co Wicklow at around 7pm this evening.

A search is underway and reports that a body has been recovered are inaccurate according to gardaí.

TheJournal.ie understands the man is an off-duty garda.
