First look at Opel's newest Corsa: A go-faster small car with a big roar

The Corsa GTi is the budget-friendly little sister of the OPC.

FOLLOWING ON FROM the Insignia GSi, Opel’s three-door Corsa GSi is here.

The small hatchback comes with the sporty looks and handling of the Corsa OPC model, but without the inflated price tag, running costs or insurance premiums.

On the exterior, the car features a sculptured bonnet, a prominent rear spoiler and a large honeycomb grille, plus a sporty chrome tailpipe and optional 18-inch light alloy wheels.

Inside, the sporty theme continues with the sports steering wheel, leather gearshift knob, aluminium sport pedals and optional sports performance seats.

It’s not just sporty in looks, either. The Corsa GSi features the same sports chassis as its big sister, the Corsa OPC version which should make it feel sporty to drive too.

Speaking about the new addition to the Corsa family, Peter Küspert, Opel Managing Director Sales and Marketing said:

There was already an especially sporty variant of the very first Corsa, which is a sought after classic-to-be. Our latest athlete will set new standards in the segment with its OPC sports chassis.

There is no word yet pricing but the new Corsa GSi is expected to arrive here in September of this year.
