Some parcel delivery disruption as An Post depot remains closed

The fire at the Oxigen recycling plant forced the main parcel depot to close yesterday as a result of heavy smoke.

THE MAIN PARCEL deport at Merrywell remains closed this morning after the fire at the Ballymount Industrial Estate forced it to close due to heavy smoke.

44 workers were evacuated yesterday as fire fighters continued to tackle the blaze at the Oxigen Environmental recycling plant.

An Post told TheJournal.ie that the depot remains closed this morning, but that they had put contingencies in place to ensure parcel deliveries went out this morning.

A spokesperson for An Post said:

There will be some disruption to the delivery service today, but we will catch up as quick as we can.

He added that they were working in conjunction with the chief fire officer and that the depot would open once the all clear was given.
