Pedestrian dies following collision with motorbike

The 73-year-old man died in hospital late last night from injuries sustained in the collision.

A 73-YEAR-OLD man has died after being struck by a motorcycle in Galway yesterday evening.

The pedestrian was seriously injured in the collision, which happened on the Renmore Road in the city at 6.30pm on Friday.

He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway but later died from his injuries.

Gardaí have named the victim as Tony Wheatley of Dún na Mara in Renmore.

The road has reopened following forensic examinations.
