Pedestrian dies after being hit by a car in Galway

The incident happened last night in Loughrea. Gardaí are investigating.

A MAN HAS died after he was hit by a car in Loughrea, Co Galway last night.

The 51-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after he was hit by the car at Kylebrack East in Loughrea at around 9pm last night.

He was taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe in Galway where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No other person was injured in the incident and forensic collision investigators have since carried out an examination of the scene.

An appeal has been issued information about the incident with members of the public urged to contact Ballinasloe Garda station on 090 963 1890, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
