Pedestrian killed on Louth road

The 48-year-old man was struck by a car while walking on the main road at Reaghstown.

GARDAÍ IN ARDEE are investigating the circumstances of a man’s death in county Louth after he was struck by a car while walking on the N2 at Reaghstown last night.

The incident occurred on the main road between Ardee and Carrickmacross at about 9.50pm.

The body of the 48-year-old man was taken to Louth County hospital for a post mortem. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The scene remains closed to allow for forensic examinations to be carried out and local diversions are in place.

The Gardaí are also appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Ardee Garda Station on 041 687 1130.
