Two airport workers arrested as Russia confirms Egypt plane crash was caused by bomb

A €47 million reward is being offered for information that would lead to the arrest of those responsible.

RUSSIA’S FEDERAL SECURITY Service (FSB) has said that last month’s plane crash in the Egyptian desert was caused by a bomb.

All 224 people on board the Metrojet plane were killed when it crashed shortly after taking off from Sharm el Sheikh International Airport.

Two Sharm el Sheikh airport workers have been arrested this morning on suspicion of helping those responsible, according to Sky News.

It comes after the head of Russia’s security service Alexander Bortnikov confirmed the crash was the result of a terrorist attack:

According to our experts, a homemade explosive device equivalent to 1 kilogram of TNT went off onboard, which caused the plane to break up in the air, which explains why the fuselage was scattered over such a large territory. I can certainly say that this was a terrorist act.

It’s reported that traces of explosives were found in the debris and that tests showed the explosives had been produced outside of Russia.

Islamic State claimed responsibility after the plane came down in the Sinai Peninsula on October 31.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Russia will ‘intensify’ air strikes on Syria as a result: “There’s no statute of limitations for this, we need to know all of their names.

We’re going to look for them everywhere, wherever they are hiding. We will find them in any place on Earth and punish them.

Additional reporting by AP.

    The term hero falls short…..
Shame on all those cowards responsible for planning and coordinating the attack.

When people go on about overpaid sports stars being hero’s it makes me sick.
This kid however is the very definition of the word hero.
May he rest in peace for his courage.

This kid is the definition of hero showing such bravery and protecting other lifes and people like him will be miss to the world but I think it’s wrong to say that calling a sports star a ”hero” as sick . Sport stars visiting terminally ill and very sick children in hospitals across the world, you’d be amused at the effect that has ….Obviously not to the same extent but I’d call them a hero

    Does his age matter?
It’s a sad world where kids have to fight politicians decisions and incompetencies.

Of course it matters – it highlights his bravery further. You can imagine adults doing it, but a kid brave enough to sacrifice himself like this is almost unimaginable
