Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy have broken up and your childhood is over

Love is dead.

A RELATIONSHIP THAT was once seen as one of the strongest in Hollywood has come to an end.

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy have both confirmed this evening that they have terminated their ‘romantic relationship’.

The pair, who are likely the most recognisable of the Muppets characters, had overcome the significant obstacle of being different species to become one of TV’s most famous on-screen couples.

Kermit first announced their parting in a statement tweeted this evening with Miss Piggy tweeting the same statement two minutes later.

Cynics may suggest that their announcements is timed to ensure maximum publicity for ABC’s new ‘The Muppets’ mockumentary that is set to premiere next month. The show will go behind the scenes of the fictional talk show Up Late with Miss Piggy.

But long-time Muppets watchers will  acknowledge that the break-up has been a long time coming.

Both partners were often shown to be be intensely jealous of each other with suspicion often boiling over into shouting matches, and occasionally turning violent.

Still though, it’s sad day for us romantics, many of whom have been venting their distress online.
