Poll: Are you ready for snow?

Is this sunny weather lulling us into a false sense of security or are you getting prepared for more harsh weather conditions later this year?

LAST YEAR’S Big Freeze brought many parts of Ireland to a standstill.

Roads were not gritted, footpaths packed full of snow and emergency departments were busy dealing with broken bones from people falling on ice.

This year, some people have gone to great lengths to ensure their houses, cars – and indeed themselves – are more prepared for any harsh conditions this winter may bring.

Snow tyres and crampons (or ice grips) are just two items that have seen a spike in sales ahead of the winter.

The Government has even launched a website to ensure we all feel prepared in case another ice or snow event should happen.

Today’s mild weather got us questioning whether we are being lulled into a false sense of security. So, we’re asking, if the snow and ice returns this year, are you ready?

Poll Results:

No, I haven't prepared for any extreme weather. (991)
Not really, but I feel more prepared this year than last. (979)
Yes, I'm ready for whatever this winter brings. (647)
I don't know (75)
