Poll: Should new housing estates be earmarked for Irish speakers?

What do you think?

THE IRISH INDEPENDENT reports today that a new proposal being considered by Galway City Council would see a housing estate being built to specifically accommodate Irish speakers in the area.

Sinn Féin councillor Cathal Ó Conchúir, who first put forward the plan, said it would be an important step towards making Galway “a truly bilingual city”.

“There is no urbanised centre in this part of Ireland that actually has an Irish-speaking community. Galway should be the first the change that,” he said.

This morning, we’re asking: Should new housing estates be earmarked for Irish speakers?

Poll Results:

No (5966)
Yes (4149)
Not sure (485)
