Poll: Are you still happy to eat Irish beef?

Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney says the horsemeat saga risks damaging Ireland’s food sector – but has it changed the amount of beef that you eat?

MINISTER FOR AGRICULTURE Simon Coveney has sharply criticised companies involved in the horsemeat controversy for their bad practices.

An official government investigation has found a range of problems at meat-producing companies, from mislabelling products to withholding information about meat contaminated with horse DNA. The Minister said the companies involved risk causing reputational damage to Ireland’s food sector.

A large number of companies and products have been implicated since horsemeat was first discovered in beef products in January.

So today we’re asking: Are you still happy to eat Irish beef?

Poll Results:

Yes, but I'm a little more cautious because of the horsemeat scandal (1339)
No, I'm not buying/eating Irish beef for the time being (619)
Yes, I haven't changed the amount I buy/eat (618)
