Poll: Should penalty points for drivers using mobile phones be doubled?

An Oireachtas committee has recommended a penalty points reform so we ask: Should points for drivers using their phones be increased from two to four?

THE JOINT OIREACHTAS Committee on Transport and Communications reviewing the penalty points system, has recommended higher penalties for mobile phone use.

TD Tom Hayes said yesterday it emerged from committee discussions that use of mobile phones is viewed as particularly dangerous by road users and accordingly the committee supports an increase from two penalty points to four for the offence.

We want to know what you think: Should penalty points for people using their phone while driving be doubled?

Poll Results:

No (1471)
Yes (1033)
I don't know (516)
