RICHARD SCRIVEN WRITES this morning that despite a noted decline in general religious practice, thousands of Irish people go on pilgrimages.

Whether it’s Croagh Patrick on Reek Sunday, the Novena in Knock or even the Camino de Santiago in Spain, some religious traditions remain resilient to social change.
