Poll: Should there be a standing charge for water services?

We now know that water charges will be brought in later this year but we’re still not sure what they’ll look like. What would you prefer?

BOTH THE IRISH Times and the Irish Independent have front page stories about plans for water charges today.

The reports reveal that the government is close to scrapping the mooted ‘standing charge’ of €50. Labour has been adamant that the system will be based on usage only.

However, no standing charge could mean higher bills as the per-litre cost will have to increase.

We now know that water charges will be brought in later this year but we’re still not sure what they’ll look like. What would you prefer?
