Poll: Who do you want to be the next President of Ireland?

There are now four definites and two hopefuls in the Race for the Áras. We give you the chance to tell us which (if any) of them gets your No. 1.

THERE ARE NOW six people vying to become the next President of Ireland.

Four candidates – Mary Davis, Seán Gallagher, Michael D. Higgins and Gay Mitchell – are already locked into the race and two more hopefuls – David Norris and Martin McGuinness – are working to ensure their names appear on the ballot paper in October.

Yesterday, Norris announced that he is once more “actively interested” in securing a nomination so he can contest the election, while Sinn Féin’s Ard Comhairle is expected to rubber-stamp the party’s nomination of Martin McGuinness tomorrow morning.

So of all the hopefuls, who would you like to see as the next President of Ireland?
