Two men due in court after attempted robbery at Tallaght post office

One of the men involved in the robbery was armed with a hammer.

TWO MEN ARE due in court this morning in connection with an armed robbery at a post office in Killnamanagh, Tallaght, yesterday.

The robbery occurred at 10.55am yesterday morning. Gardaí said two men pulled up outside the post office in a red Toyota Corolla.

One was armed with a hammer and they demanded money but none was handed over by staff.

The pair fled the scene in the Toyota which was later found burned out at Treepark Road.

Gardaí who had been called to the incident caught two men on foot heading towards Tymon North.

The men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were held at Tallaght Garda Station overnight. They will appear at Dublin District Court Number 1 at the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning at 10.30am.
