Post office robbed in Roscommon

Armed men raided post office in Castlerea this morning, escaping with money and cigarettes.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING the robbery of cash and cigarettes from a post office in Co Roscommon this morning.

The robbery occurred shortly before 10am today at the post office in Granlahan, Castlerea, Co Roscommon.

Three masked men, two of whom were armed with guns, stole an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes before leaving the scene in a green Nissan Almera.

The car has an 01 LH registration.

No shots were fired during the theft, and the sole staff member who was in the post office at the time was not injured. There were no customers inside at the time.
