More than 2,000 ESB customers are without power

Several counties have been hit, with Mayo worst affected.

MORE THAN 2,000 houses and businesses across the country are currently without electricity following a number of faults.

ESB has apologised for the issues, telling customers: “We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible.”

There is a cluster of service interruptions in Mayo. Westport has been particularly badly hit, with 1,799 customers affected. The fault began at about 8.20am and power is expected to be restored at noon.

A further 47 customers have been affected in nearby Knockaphunta. Power has been gone since about 7.20am and is expected to be restored at 11am.

Other parts of the country have also been affected.

Limerick, Cork, Kildare and Cavan

Some 134 customers in Patrickswell, Limerick are without power. The estimated restoration time is not yet known.

Another 136 customers in Skibbereen, Cork have been without power since 9.20am. It’s expected to be restored by noon. Also in Cork, Kanturk has 63 affected customers. They’ve had no electricity since 8.30pm yesterday. The problem there is expected to be fixed at 1.30pm.

Some 123 customers in Kildare have been without power since about 00.30am. The estimated restoration time is not yet known.

In Cavan, a further 35 customers have had no electricity since shortly before 8am. Power is expected to be restored there at 11.30am.
