JURGEN KLOPP HAS committed his future to Liverpool and signed a long-term contract that will keep him at Anfield for the next six seasons.
Although Liverpool did not officially confirm the length of the extension, it is believed to add a further four years on to the German’s existing deal — running until the summer of 2022.
Senior backroom staff Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz have also signed new deals as Liverpool’s owners double down on Klopp as the man to restore the Reds to former glories.
“It’s hard to express in words how honoured myself, Zeljko and Peter feel by the commitment shown in us by the ownership and the club in general,” Klopp said.
“We are very much at the beginning of our journey, but to already have the connection we have with this very special place is incredible.”
Since arriving last October Klopp made a quick impression on the Anfield hierachy and led Liverpool to the Europa League final, although defeat to Sevilla as well as an eighth-place finish in the Premier League saw the Reds miss out on European football next season.
“When you have an individual of Jurgen’s quality in the building it makes perfect sense to secure that person for the long term. To not do so would be irresponsible,” principal owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon explained in a joint statement.
“The overriding motivation behind this decision is Jurgen’s commitment to overall improvement and development. In Jurgen we have someone who is always looking ahead, always looking beyond his own wants and needs and putting the club first.
“The ideas and plans he has for the football infrastructure excite us and we believe it benefits the organisation to have Jurgen committed to Liverpool for a sustained period, to make sure he is here to oversee this development. By making this commitment to him, we are taking away any future distractions or doubt. We will move forward in partnership together, with confidence in each other and with the club’s future at the forefront of every decision.
“He is a world-class managerial talent and his leadership will be critical to everything we hope to achieve in the years ahead.”

2022s only 6 years away, fek where’s the years going!
The radio told me earlier it has been 20 years since the spice girls came on the scene, I know how ya feel.
Time waits for no man Mick!!
We’ll all be compost soon.
Board meeting: “Fans want a big signing” “who was our last big singing?” “Klopp” “OK, let’s sign him again!”
*Jurgen Klopp got a pay rise*
Fixed that headline for you
Brilliant – about thr only likeable mansger on the scene. Reminds you to think again about the pleasure of the game and not the money men
I can see him getting a job at a big club eventually.
You might get something big some day too… I’m thinking the 46A…
Are you saying Dortmund and Liverpool arent big clubs or are you just being an unfunny p rick
He’s wrong. Dortmund are still a big club
Great news hopefully he’s given the money and time to develop his own team and get rid of the dead wood . No Europe this year could be a blessing . Hope they keep Ibe he’s only young and for 15m it’s not worth selling him unless thier planning on getting reus that be sweet
Delighted to take 15m for Ibe, nowhere near worth that, great bit of business. Reus is very unrealistic plus we already have a plethora of attacking options. A solid left back and commanding midfielder need to be priority.
Nail on the head there, Laura – completely agree.
Getting rid of the guys that Klopp clearly doesn’t see as part of his plans is important, too: Bogdan, Skrtel, Ilori, Wisdom, Lucas, Allen, Ibe, Benteke. Probably impossible to sell them all in one window, but he definitely needs to start the cull and have a small squad where everyone gets game time. Not being in Europe is awful, but at least useful for clearing deadwood.
They are allegedly putting a buy-back clause into Ibe’s deal, which makes sense: he has the talent, but LFC can’t give him the games he needs to develop. Bournemouth is a great move for all parties.
Brady and Hendricks would make Liverpool great again.
Reus isn’t realistic at all he wad brought through by klopp ,if sterling is worth 50m then Ibe is worth more then 15m he’s only 20 and hasn’t got a proper chance under klopp yet. Left back is key ye
Buy back clause makes sense then I’d sell him , he’s got potential and we can get him back that’s a good deal then.
Top manager Top club FACT . Give him time and half the money the other gimps get and they be Champions League regulars again . 15 Mil for Ibe. . Adios Amigo . Fierce rumor Giggs left the Sxcum in case The DIKHEAD 1 gave him some Ava Caniero treatment . Class manager down at THE THEATRE OF QUEENS
Do you work for The Sun?
Will only end in failure
As it did for Ferguson at Man Utd.
Dont be surprised to see Liverpool dawdle in the transfer market again. The owners mind their pennies and dont actually invest much beyond what Liverpool receive for players they sell. This contract for Klopp is only a screen.
Have to say I actually like FSG. They put their money where their mouth is with the new stand and listened to the fans after the ticket price protest. Liverpool’s biggest problem with transfers isn’t necessarily money (albeit we can’t offer the wages other clubs can), but lack of Champions League football in an any way consistent basis. Hoping that’ll change :)
The stand adds value to the club that they know they will recoup in any future sale or over time through ticket sales. They did listen to the fans eventually but they also made the decision to up the prices initially. Dont get me wrong, I think they will run a very successful business, just not a successful football club. Klopp suits them in this regard as his record at Dortmund saw him sell big and buy low while still winning titles. Much harder to do that in that in the PL.
Go after Griezman.
Excellent.
Could be sacked by the summer
