Here's how Gangnam Style changed YouTube forever

IT WAS JUST two years ago that Gangnam Style was basically EVERYWHERE.

And it turns out that so many people watched it that it changed YouTube forever.

In a short post on Google+, YouTube said that they had no idea that South Korean bonkers-pop maestro PSY’s song would be so massive.

“We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met PSY,” they say.

‘Gangnam Style’ has been viewed so many times we have to upgrade!

When watching popular YouTube videos, the last thing you might think about is the impact it has on the site itself. The fact that Gangnam Style led to huge changes at YouTube shows that viral videos are literally changing the way the internet works.

The video has already been viewed over 2 billion times… and counting.
