Public and politicians turn out to pay respects to Garret FitzGerald

The former Taoiseach is lying in repose at Mansion House in Dublin today ahead of the removal this evening. There has been a constant stream of people paying their respects today.

MEMBERS OF THE public and politicians have been turning out in Dublin today to pay their respects to two-time former Taoiseach Garret FitzGerald.

Dr FitzGerald, who died aged 85 on Thursday, is lying in repose at Mansion House on Dawson Street until 7pm this evening after which he will be removed to Sacred Heart Church in Donnybrook.

He will be laid to rest in a State funeral tomorrow at 2.30pm.

Dr Fitzgerald is lying in repose at the Oak Room and books of condolences are available outside for people to sign.

Traffic is currently moving in both lanes outside Mansion House.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin has said he hopes as many of those as may wish to will pay their respects as a constant stream of people including himself and Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton have been doing today:
