Three dead in US marine base shooting

The shooting happened in Virginia at about 11pm yesterday.

THREE PEOPLE HAVE died in a shooting incident at a marine base in Virginia.

The Marine Corps Base in Quantico said “an isolated shooting incident” occurred at its Officer Candidate School on Thursday night. Prince William County police were called to the scene and all base residents were asked to remain inside their homes with the doors locked.

The suspect, who is one of the three deceased, was barricaded by law enforcement personnel after the initial shooting but not immediately taken into custody.

Early this morning, authorities entered the barracks where the gunman was held and found he had shot himself dead. They also discovered the body of the third victim. All three were Marines.

According to a spokesperson, the base – also home to the FBI’s training academy – has resumed “green code” and all normal activities are resuming.
