Mum of Reeva Steenkamp to publish "insider" book on Pistorius trial

June Steenkamp will write about her experience of the trial.

THE MOTHER OF Reeva Steenkamp, the model killed by South African star athlete Oscar Pistorius, will publish a book about her daughter, publishers said.

June Steenkamp sat stoically in a South African courtroom following every detail of the six month trial.

Her memoirs “will tell, for the first time, the full story behind the most dramatic trial of the 21st century,” publishers Sphere said in a statement.

Titled Reeva, A Mother’s Story, the hardback will be released in Britain on November 10, just about a month after Pistorius’ sentence hearing which begins on October 13.

She gave few media interviews before and after the trial of the double-amputee, who was dating her daughter before he shot her through a bathroom door.

“In this painfully honest and unflinching account of Reeva’s life, she will talk about what really went on in her mind as she sat in the packed Pretoria court room day after day and how she is coping in the aftermath of the verdict,” said Sphere.

The account “is the only true insider’s account of this tragic story.”

Pistorius trial had heard that in the early hours of Valentine’s Day last year, the “Blade Runner” fired four hollow point pistol rounds into a locked toilet door, hitting Steenkamp and causing her head to “explode” and “amputating” her arm.

He said he thought he was shooting at an intruder and that Steenkamp was safely in bed.

He was found guilty of acting “negligently” but was cleared of murder.
