Creighton insists RA conference logo is 'hardly original' amid Fianna Fáil comparisons

The ‘backwards Fianna Fáil logo’ was how one Cabinet minister described it.

image

THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN the Fianna Fáil logo and that adopted by the Reform Alliance for its conference in the RDS this weekend have been played down by Lucinda Creighton.

The TD and most prominent member of the nascent political alliance of expelled Fine Gael TDs pointed out that the use of the harp is not unusual given it’s the State’s national emblem, saying it’s “hardly original”.

The similarities between the logo and that of Fianna Fáil have been noted by several commentators including Transport Minister Leo Varadkar who said on Twitter earlier this week:

image

Creighton told TheJournal.ie yesterday that the emblem is being used for the conference in the RDS and said it is not the logo of the Reform Alliance.

“We don’t have one,” she insisted.

Fianna Fáil declined to comment.

Maybe a better name for this political party is “The Arch-conservative Religious Zealot Party”. They want to stagnate Ireland with their nineteenth century thinking. “Let’s ignore the will of the people” should be Creighton’s motto.

The reason for the backwards FF logo is that The New ‘RA is a honeytrap for dissident Fianna Fail members.

Enda and Lucinda have cooked up a cunning plan to form a faux splinter group that will lure in the rats leaving the sinking FF ship.

Come General Election time, Labour will be minced up into frankfurters by the electorate leaving FG to enter a co-alition with the RA (which will really be the remnants of FF in disguise).

FG die hards would never stand for an outright FG+FF co-alition, but a FG+RA one would be just fine.

    Bravo, you crafty spinmeisters!

The most interesting part of the posts here, is the banality of the opposition to the potential new party. The childish repertoire of most of those putting Lucinda down, bodes very well for the new entity. So hopefully the next general election will present voters with a real new choice.
The three key areas of discussion in the RDS do not include catholic doctrine. Morality is just a guiding principle, the sweet background music that works with our conscience to ensure the applied politics are not merely feathering ones own nest. But tries to ensure real human rights, real freedom of expression, and protection of the most vulnerable against the growing selfishness pursued by the cult of individualism, and the growing intrusion of state into family.
If the thinking people of Ireland can again find their pride, perhaps history can repeat itself and we could again become a light for Europe and the world.

In the early middle ages, the dark ages was spread around Europe. It was the educated Irish that preserved culture as it had been known, and we were responsible for reintroducing culture and learning back into a lost Europe, through our monastic missionaries. I would claim Europe is again lost in a morass of individualism, and in need of some old fashioned civilization, which leads to care of the vulnerable, and support for families the root of society.

    I agree.
The roots of this potential party are different to anything previously attempted. The existing politicians who were bullied for standing on principle and conscience, form a good platform. What is missing of course is the on the ground local political structure of foot soldiers and councillors; not to mention the finances the established parties have access to. But the chasm of disconnect between the people and the existing politicians, should help the reform effort. Imagine, a party of the people, for the people, by the people (all the people); that would be something new for Ireland. There has been far too much self interest in our politics.

A party for the people and by the people would be a party that enacts the wishes of the people. Not one that ignores those wishes if they aren’t compatible with their own “morality” or religious beliefs. I would Ireland to have a party that prioritises equality above all else and works for the betterment of society. A party of radicals, free thinkers and fearless commentators. A party not tied to the civil war history or the Celtic tiger largesse. But instead we get the reform alliance. A right wing, Conservative party made up of rejects and has-beens. In a country where the young are either disenfranchised, apathetic, outnumbered, increasingly isolated or emigrating, the RA are bound to succeed.

Yes. Democracy is the best option we have today. But the democracy we’ve been experiencing, is one where we get to vote for politicians who offer all things to all men, and then do what is good for themselves.
I hope the new reform will be driven by sound principles, say what they intend to achieve, and then serve the public accordingly, if elected. Wouldn’t that be something new!

So you are looking for more left of the left that all of the existing parties lie on.
” A party of radicals, free thinkers and fearless commentators. “, sounds like a manifesto first published in 1848. You are of course referring to your interpretation of “equality”, which will of course include some been more equal than others (the child in the womb being the least equal of all).
My hope for the new party would be conservative in moral issues, with a radical social policy in support of the poor. A party which encourages decentralization and local responsibility.

Good old Shanti. Your avatar is quite ironic, I don’t associate world peace with your radical views. But I must admit I didn’t think you would promote an attitude of restrictive speech. I gave a one word reply in my first sentence, and then continued with my comment.
But your malice toward the church founded by Christ, which you work faithfully against, is consistent.
To the best of my knowledge gays in the church are proportional to gays in society as a whole. All persons are of course welcome in the church, there is nothing wrong with been homosexual.
    But enough of your deflection.

Perhaps this is your position, it is not the position of the Catholic church. Well, at least the position of the church is that homosexuals are fine as long as they repress their homosexuality and don’t actually engage in it
    The Vatican’s position is…
“homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” and homosexuality is an “inclination, which is objectively disordered, ”

It must be the first time I’ve seen the quotes given correctly. But I believe the church calls gay persons to live their Catholicism in the same way they call other single persons. Because they ask single heterosexuals to remain chaste, is that an attempt to exclude all single persons from the church?

The future hook up of FG and RA has likely already been written down in some backroom.

The RA intends to pull energy out of the frustration building with the system.

I posted in another article that I live in Meath East and whoever is independent, intelligent and decent will get my vote. Transfers will all go to the other independent, intelligent and decent people who have the will to sort this mess out.

FG/Moodys/IMF says we’re all doing great and our future is bright. Our finance minister even got the golden cleric award.

Our debt is over 200 billion and rising every second of every day. It’s perpetual now. All I see around me is needy and frustrated people.

If they have no intention of forming a new party, why do they need this sad logo?

I don’t like Vradakar but that is funny, Fianna Fáil backwards, kinda not sure who should be more insulted!

This is what it would look like if the Leinster Rugby and Ryanair logos had a baby.

I am going to vote for the Reform Alliance. They are what Fine Gael used to be in the good old days.
