Congressman says he'll 'take cyanide' if Ted Cruz wins White House nomination

Peter King is not mad about Donald Trump either.

A REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN has said he will “take cyanide” if Ted Cruz wins the party’s presidential nomination.

Peter King, a congressman from New York, made the comment during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe today.

King is the former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. He told host Joe Scarborough: “I hate Ted Cruz.”

Cruz’s campaign did not immediately respond to a comment request.

King previously said that any New Yorkers who are considering voting for Cruz “should have their head examined”.

King initially endorsed Marco Rubio, who has since dropped out of the race.

He voted for John Kasich in today’s Republican presidential primary in New York but stopped short of endorsing him, saying: ”If I thought that John Kasich had a viable chance I’d endorse him.”

King said it’s possible Kasich will get the nomination, but Trump is more likely to come out on top.

‘Reckless’ Trump

Speaking of Trump, King had this to say:

If he wants support of Republicans he’s got to get more substance, really learn what he’s talking about and can’t just be talking off the top of his head and making reckless charges.

He said Trump needs to “show that he understands what’s happening the Middle East”, stating: “He can’t just say he’s going to bomb the crap out of Isis.”

King added that Kasich could be a good choice for the role of Vice President.
