Man taken to hospital after empty boat found off Galway

His condition is described as critical.

A MAN HAS been taken to Galway University Hospital after he was reported missing from a boat off Galway.

The man’s vessel was spotted stuck on a lobster pot near Tawin Island off Salthill around 3.30pm today.

RNLI lifeboats from Galway and the Aran Islands were sent to search for the boat’s owner, finding him in the water wearing a life jacket.

The Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 115, was also sent from Shannon.

The man was taken to University Hospital Galway, where his condition is described as critical.
