Elderly man killed in Wexford hit and run

A woman who was a passenger is in a serious condition in hospital.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses after an elderly man was  killed in a hit and run in Wexford last night.

The two car crash happened on the N11 at Ballylough, Ferns at around 10:30pm.

The 81-year-old man who died was the driver of one of the cars. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A female passenger in her 50s was taken to Wexford General Hospital and her injuries are described as serious.

Gardaí say that two people were in the other car which left the scene.

The N11 between Scarawalsh and Ferns  is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to this collision to contact Enniscorthy Garda Station on 053-9242580, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
