Five men arrested over violent jewellery store robberies by Romanian gangs

Members of staff at the stores had been assaulted during the robberies.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED five men in Dublin as part of an investigation into Romanian organised criminal groups involved in aggravated burglaries of jewellery stores.

Searches took place in the early hours of this morning in the Balbriggan, Donabate and Blanchardstown areas as well as in the North Inner City.

The investigation was carried out by the newly formed Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau which was investigating the aggravated burglaries. Gardaí said members of staff had been assaulted during the violent incidents.

Five men were arrested in total, all aged in their mid thirties. They are being held at a number of garda stations in North Dublin.

Computer equipment and phones were also seized during the searches.
