Ronan Kerr murder investigation: Omagh man arrested in England

Police investigating the death of Ronan Kerr have arrested a 22-year-old man in England this evening.

POLICE INVESTIGATING THE murder of Ronan Kerr and linked incidents have arrested a 22 year old man from Omagh in England.

The arrest took place in Milton Keynes earlier this evening and was made by officers from the North West Counter Terrorism Unit at the request of PSNI Serious Crime Branch detectives.

The suspect has been taken to a police station in England for questioning.

A number of searches carried out in Omagh and Cumbria earlier today have been completed. The PSNI said that a number of items have been seized for examination. These include a lorry, which was stopped in Milton Keynes. Police inquiries are continuing.

Kerr was killed in April 2011 when a booby-trap bomb went off after the Catholic PSNI constable got into his car at Highfield Close in Omagh.
