Part of glass roof falls in at RTÉ

No one was injured but people are said to have been shaken by the incident.

PART OF A glass roof fell in on an RTÉ building today – but thankfully no one was injured during the incident.

The broadcaster confirmed that one of the glazed roof sections of the atrium in one of the RTÉ buildings broke this morning.

Luckily, the glass is designed with specific safety features, as RTÉ explained in a statement this afternoon:

The type of glass used in this part of the building has an in-built safety feature which determines that it shatters before impact, thereby minimising any risk of damage or injury.

RTÉ said that there were no other damages or injury arising from the incident.

Declan Buckley, also known as Shirley Temple Bar, was in the atrium when the panel fell in.

He tweeted that a “couple of producers having coffee got a fright” but that nobody was injured.
