Elderly woman dies in Roscommon road crash

The 83-year-old woman’s car hit a wall at Carrowphadeen just before 5pm yesterday evening.

AN ELDERLY WOMAN has died after a road crash in Co Roscommon yesterday evening.

The woman, 83, was the sole occupant of a car which  hit a wall at Carrowphadeen, Lecarrow in Roscommon just before 5pm yesterday evening.

She was taken by ambulance to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe where she was later pronounced dead.

The road was temporarily closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation but it has since reopened.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact them at Roscommon Garda station on 090 6638300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
