Man in his 20s dies after collapsing at Dublin half-marathon

The runner passed away at the event in Phoenix Park this afternoon.

A 23-YEAR-old man has died after collapsing at the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon.

Event organisers confirmed the runner passed away at the race, which took place this afternoon in the Phoenix Park.

RTÉ reports that the man was pronounced dead at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown after suffering a “cardiac event” close to the finishing line.

In a Facebook post, organisers thanked the St John’s Ambulance medical team, and expressed condolences to the man’s friends and family.
