RYANAIR WILL CANCEL 30 of its 290 Irish flights this Thursday due to strike action.

A 24-hour strike has been called for Thursday and as it stands, this is expected to go ahead.

Members of the IALPA union working for Ryanair last week voted to go on strike next Thursday.

The strike will commence at 1am that day and the union said it will notify the airline of additional strike days in due course.

In a statement the company said:

“We have this morning planned to cancel up to 30 of our 290 flights to and from Irish airports on Thursday. All customers on these flights have received text and email notification of these cancellations earlier today and our Customer Service teams are assisting them with refunds, free transfers to alternative flights.

“Customers who are travelling on a Ryanair flight to or from Ireland on Thursday and who have not already received an email or text notification, then we expect their flight to operate and they should check in as normal at their departure airport.

“We apologise to our Irish customers for these regrettable disruptions which we have done our utmost to avoid.”

The company says that the strike will affect just 94 of its more than 350 pilots. Only some routes from Ireland to the UK are affected and all flights to Europe will operate as normal.

Ryanair added it cannot rule out more disruption in July and August. It will meet with pilots tomorrow at a neutral venue.
