Burglar 'caught red-handed' after stealing yoghurts, milk and Winnie the Pooh moneybox

Ash Love was described as a “career criminal”.

A UK BURGLAR who went on a three-week crime spree stealing items from milk to mobile phones has been jailed for three years.

Ash Love of Salford was eventually caught by Greater Manchester Police carrying a multi-tool in his back pocket that led a sniffer dog to some discarded gloves.

Love carried out six burglaries within 100m of each other last year with police officers who found a horde of stolen items in his home saying he “was desperate to get his hands on whatever he could”.

As part of the robbery spree he took a number of personal items, including a Winnie the Pooh moneybox, yoghurts, bottles of milk, cameras, debit and credit cards, watches, jewellery, mobile phones and tablets, cash and even a plastic darts case.

Love is believed to have used a weapon of some sort to create a hole in a door big enough to get his hand through before reaching for keys in the locked door.

“Love is a career criminal, a persistent and prolific burglar who all but terrorised this neighbourhood over a three-week period,” Detective Sergeant Roger Smethurst said yesterday.

“The fact that we caught him red-handed with a multi-tool in his pocket and gloves that he had discarded shows that he was intent on carrying on his crime spree.”

Love plead guilty to the six burglaries and was sentenced to three year in prison.
