Homicide squad 'take over missing Sarah Cafferkey case'

Sarah Cafferkey is a second-generation Irish woman missing in Melbourne. She has not been seen for a week and her car was found on Friday.

POLICE INVESTIGATING THE whereabouts of missing Sarah Cafferkey have put a homicide squad in charge of the case, latest reports from Australia say.

The Herald Sun is reporting that a homicide squad has taken over the case of the missing 22-year-old. Sarah, who has family connections to Achill Island, has not been seen since Friday 9 November. Her car was found on Friday in Maribrynong.

The Sydney Morning Herald said that Sarah “received threats” in the lead-up to her disappearance.

Police are still appealing for public assistance to help locate Sarah after she was reported missing from Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, last week.

Sarah Cafferkey was last seen by her family at home on Ross Street. She requires regular medication for an asthma-related illness.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen Sarah or her car (a silver 2001 Astra sedan, registration OOHSEZ) in the Maribrynong area. Sarah is described as Caucasian with a fair complexion, 168cm tall, thin build, black shoulder-length straight hair with green eyes.

Readers in Australia who may have information on Sarah’s whereabouts are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
