Founding member of The Chieftains, Seán Potts, has died

He was 83 years old.

FOUNDING MEMBER of The Chieftains, Seán Potts, has passed away.

He was 83 years old.

The whistle player set up the group with friend Paddy Moloney in 1962.

The musician also worked for RTÉ Radio.

Fiddler Paddy Glackin paid tribute to his colleague on Morning Ireland this morning, describing him as a “wonderful” and “sensitive” player.
