Driver survives serious crash after losing control in heavy rain

Gardaí have asked motorists to slow down.

GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED a warning to motorists to slow down after a driver escaped uninjured from a serious crash.

Garda Traffic shared images of the crash, which took place on the M9 at Kilcullen in Co Kildare, on Twitter.

The driver lost control in heavy rain and the car hit a 20-foot high embankment before landing on its roof.

No other vehicles were involved.

More than 80 people have been killed on Irish roads so far this year. Some 166 people died on our roads in 2015.
