Man arrested in connection with fatal stabbing in Shankill

The suspect, a male in his early 30s, was detained in the Dublin area and is being questioned at a local garda station.

GARDAÍ IN DUBLIN investigating a fatal stabbing in Shankill this morning have arrested a man.

The suspect, a male in his early 30s, was detained in the Dublin area and is being questioned at a local garda station.

One man died in the incident which occurred at about 5.30am at Rathsallagh Park. Another was seriously injured. He remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Both victims are in their late 20s.

It is understood an altercation took place at a house party in the estate and it spilled out onto the road outside. The two men were discovered on the roadside when emergency services arrived.

Gardaí say that the scene has been preserved for a technical examination and have appealed for witnesses who may have been in or around the Rathsallagh Park area to contact them on 01 666 5900, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
