Up to 50 sheep killed by dogs in Co Roscommon

The animals were killed by a number of dogs last Saturday in a field in Castlerea, Co Roscommon.

GARDAÍ SAY dozens of sheep were killed by a number of dogs in an attack last weekend in Co Roscommon.

The attack occurred in a field at Castlerea last Saturday.

The incident is being investigated by Gardaí, who can be contacted at (094) 9621630 with any further information.

A Garda spokeswoman said approximately 50 sheep had been killed by a large number of dogs.

RTÉ reported that over 90 ewes, which were in lamb at the time, were attacked, and added that several may need to be put down as a result of the trauma sustained in the attack.
