However, no one was injured. Armed gardaí from the Regional Support Unit and Garda Crisis Negotiators attended the scene and a cordon was put in place.

A neighbouring house was evacuated as a precaution.

During the garda operation two occupants of the house, who were both unarmed, were removed to safety.

At approximately 2.20am, the 18-year-old man was located in a nearby outhouse by gardaí from the Regional Support Unit. He was arrested and a loaded shotgun was recovered.

No shots were discharged by gardaí during the incident and no one was injured.

The man is currently detained under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Bandon Garda Station. The scene is preserved for a technical examination and the investigation is ongoing.
