Sinkhole opens up in a housing estate in Cork

A SINKHOLE OPENED up in an a housing estate in Carrigaline, Cork earlier this week.

Derek McGreevy who lives in the area told TheJournal.ie that the estate is about 16 years old and is built on a limestone base so is prone to sinkholes.

The one-foot-deep and one-foot-wide hole didn’t get to stay around for too long though.

“It opened up at about 5pm on Tuesday evening the council had it filled in by 11am the following morning,” he said.
