Irish canoeist killed in Slovenia river accident

Diplomatic officials made contact with the young man’s family yesterday.

AN IRISH MAN has died following an accident on a river in Slovenia.

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed this evening that it was aware of the death, and that it was providing consular assistance to the man’s family.

The young man is understood to be a student at a Dublin third-level institution.

Diplomatic officials made contact with his family yesterday, in the wake of the accident.

His name has not yet been released.
