Poll: Do you think the smoking ban has been effective?

There has been mixed messages in reports over the past two days so we’re asking you, ‘What do you think?’

AN ESRI WORKING paper yesterday revealed that more employed people smoke now than they did before the smoking ban.

Responding today, the Irish Cancer Society disputed the claim, insisting that the laws help with attitudes towards the habit – which eventually drives down its prevalence.

The author of the ESRI paper also suggested that the ban has succeeded in its primary aim of cutting passive smoking.

So today we ask: Do you think the smoking ban has been effective?

Poll Results:

Yes, but only for passive smokers (3324)
Yes, for both smokers and non-smokers (2299)
Yes, but only for smokers (976)
No, it hasn't been effective at all (515)
