Poll: When does spring start ... it's today, right?

St Brigid’s Day? St Patrick’s Day? The Vernal Equinox? … Can we please settle this once and for all?

SPRING IS HERE … or is it? Depends who you talk to really.

But according to this factsheet for primary school students from Met Éireann, the season kicks-off on the 1st of March, and continues until the end of May.

Then again – it depends how you define spring. An astronomer would say it begins at the Vernal Equinox, on March 20th.

While we’re at it – what about poor old St Brigid? Did she die in vain?

There’s only one way to settle this. POLL.

Poll Results:

It's the 1st of February. (3947)
First day of March. (1912)
I'll know it when I see it. (890)
I like equinoxes. (604)
Go away. (407)
